medieval

The Virtual Museum offers a comprehensive view of the historical and artistic heritage of one of the most important cities in medieval Italy. Between the 11th-13th century Pisa was the crossroads of Mediterranean culture, where the legacy of ancient tradition and the birth of a new artistic culture met. In addition to renowned monuments, shown here is a gallery of both great and minor works of art, a web of artists, architectural works and museums besides an in-depth analysis and suggestions to encourage thorough understanding of their historical and cultural relevance. The flexibility of a simple, intuitive navigating tool makes it all available to scholars, laymen, real and vurtual tourists alike.
