Smashing a genealogical brick wall is great fun. In this case. I figure I have about slightly more than 100 hours invested in tracking this family to find the parents of Sven.

Original Posting:

Back quite a few generations in my genealogy I come to a stop on one line  with Sven Nilsson Ek. I can not find where he was born, or who his parents were. They kept the Ek name as a family name rather than use the typical Svensson. That should help me find them. But not yet.

Here's what I know.

Sven notes in the HE book on more than one occasion that he was born in Björkö, Jonköping 1797 1/8. But when I go looking for him there, he is not to be found.

His wife was Stina Jonasdotter also givces in the HE that she was born in Bjökö, Jönköping in 1798 23/6. But she can not be found there. I did manage to find her in Nävelsjö, Jönköping.

I pick them up in 1823 when they have moved into Björkö from Sandsjö which I figure is Norra Sandsjö which is just down the street a short distance from Björkö. The reason they both thought they were born in Björkö could be because there may have been a time when Norra Sandsjö WAS Björkö, or so close they did not know the difference. It was the early 1800's, after all.

While living in Norra Sandsjö, I guess they had their first child Anna Louisa born 1822 6/3 or 6/4. The record says she was born in Björkö. I can not find the birth record for her in Björkö. And I can not find a record for her in Norra Sandsjö because there is no volume for that year available online. There are no Immigration or Emigration volumes for that period online either.

I have started looking through every page of the HE from GID: 1128.2  So far I am up to 1128.2.41000 with no success. I have done this page by page search  before with success after going through 197 pages of a 200 page list. But with no clue as to the torp, and no clue of any sort, I will have to continue page by page for now. Perhaps eventually I will find them. But for now that is my dead end with the EK bunch.

I do find them as a family in Björkö in the 1817-1824 volume. Genline ID Number (GID:1069.5.58900).

Lena Karin Ek is born there in 1824 5/12. The birth record has all sorts of clues as to the sisters of the mother but on tracking them out nothing could be found to help locate the parents of the mother or father, yet. (GID: 1069.17.58900)

They may have spent some short time in Höreda.

In 1927 they show as having moved to Norra Solberga. While living there they had several children:

Johan Ek 1827 16/10 (GID:245.8.10100
Carl Ek 1830 3/12 (GID:245.8.11000)
Sara Lisa Ek 1833 22/12 (GID:245.8.12300)
Johanna Charlotta Ek 1837 3/5 (GID:245.8.14500) My relative.
Frans Johan Ek 1840 4/12 (GID:245.8.15600)

The family is listed together in Norra Solberga and can be found at these GID reference numbers:

245.16.13600
245.18.56100
245.19.77700
245.2.1700
245.3.26000
245.21.18500
245.22.48500

His wife dies 10/12 68.
He dies 26/2 81.

Any clues as to the parents of Sven Nilsson Ek  and where he was born would be appreciated.

Cheers:>)
